World Wellbeing Week: Why Nutrition Deserves a Seat at the Table

It’s World Wellbeing Week, a time to reflect on what truly supports our health, both personally and professionally.

Held during the last week of June, this annual event (launched by Wellbeing World in 2021) is gaining momentum as individuals and organisations alike begin to recognise that wellbeing isn’t just a nice-to-have, it’s essential.

But here’s the catch:

In workplaces up and down the country as well as in the general public, we’re seeing a growing focus on mental health and menopause support. Which is brilliant, but there’s still a huge missing piece in the wellbeing puzzle: nutrition.

How often in your workplace do you see nutritional strategies to support your brain health, your concentration, your stress resilience, your sleep or your hot flushes?

Let’s talk about the silent driver of wellbeing

If you’ve ever:

  • Hit a 3pm energy crash at your desk
  • Struggled to focus through back-to-back meetings
  • Been overwhelmed by stress, fatigue, or poor sleep
  • Or wondered why brain fog or hot flushes suddenly make work feel 10x harder…

…then nutrition could be the key to a better, more balanced you.

But in too many offices, wellbeing “support” still looks like this:

→ Mental health policies paired with… trays of doughnuts
→ Menopause support initiatives… without the foods that actually help regulate hormones
→ An office canteen that praises salads… but forgets the power of things like chia seeds, flaxseeds, or oily fish

What if staff were empowered to fuel themselves with foods that truly support energy, focus, mood and hormone health?

It’s not about food policing. It’s about education and creating a culture of wellbeing that feels achievable and inclusive.

“But it’s just one doughnut!”
“Surely flaxseeds won’t fix my burnout!”

You’d be surprised.

I’ve spent over 15 years helping people make small, manageable dietary shifts that have huge ripple effects on their sleep, stress resilience, concentration, and even menopause symptoms.

And what I’ve seen time and time again is this:
When you fuel your body right, everything else starts working better.

If you’re an employer…

This is your opportunity to build a culture of health from the inside out, where wellbeing is embedded, not just ticked off.

Let’s replace the sugary snacks with smarter options that actually support brain health, productivity and hormone balance.

Your people will thank you. And so will your performance metrics.

If you’re an employee…

And you’re feeling tired, foggy or stretched thin, it might not just be your workload. Let’s talk about what you’re eating (and not eating), and how that’s affecting your mind and body.
