Local, expert support for your gut, your energy and your wellbeing
I am Caroline Peyton, a naturopath and registered nutritional therapist with my Cotswolds clinic at Greatfield House, Top Road, Kempsford, GL7 4EG, just a few miles from Fairford. The clinic serves clients across Fairford, Lechlade, Kempsford, Quenington, Coln St Aldwyns, Hatherop, Whelford and the surrounding Cotswolds villages. There is also a Swindon clinic at Wood Street Wellbeing, 10 Wood Street, SN1 4AB, and online consultations cover anyone elsewhere in the UK.
The clients who reach me from Fairford are usually people who have done the rounds. They have spoken to the GP, perhaps had blood tests or a scope, and walked away with a label and not much else. The bloating keeps coming back. The energy still does not return. They want a real plan, not another prescription.
That is what I do. I take a thorough naturopathic case history, look for the underlying drivers, and build you a clear plan you can actually follow. Sometimes that includes specialist gut testing, sometimes it does not. Always it is personalised to you and explained in plain English so you understand exactly why we are doing what we are doing.
If you are ready to stop guessing, the first step is a free 20-minute discovery call. No pressure, no obligation. We work out together whether nutritional therapy is the right next step for you.
Leaky gut: what it is, what it is not, and what to do
“Leaky gut” gets used as both a serious clinical concern and a wellness-industry buzzword. Both can be true. Here is what the evidence actually supports, and how I work with clients who suspect they have it.
What the gut lining actually does
Your gut lining is one cell thick across most of its length. Its job is to let nutrients through and keep almost everything else out. The cells are held together by tight junctions, and those junctions can loosen for short periods, normally and reversibly. The problem is when “short periods” becomes “most of the time”.
What pushes permeability up
Chronic stress, excessive alcohol, certain medications, infections, gut microbiome imbalance, poor digestion, ultra-processed diets and food chemicals can all contribute. None of these is a sole cause. They stack. The longer they stack, the more the lining struggles to maintain its integrity.
The pattern of symptoms to look for
Reactive food sensitivities that seem to spread, low-grade systemic inflammation, skin flares, joint aches, brain fog, autoimmune flares and persistent gut symptoms despite “clean” eating. None of these proves leaky gut on its own. The cluster, in the right context, is suggestive.
How we actually work on it
The plan is rarely a miracle supplement. It is a sequence: address the drivers (stress, infection, microbiome), support digestion, feed the lining with the right nutrients and the right plant diversity, and then test if needed to confirm progress. Healing the lining is downstream of removing what was harming it.
The patterns I see most often in Fairford clients
Many of the clients I see fall into one of these patterns. If two or more feel familiar, a discovery call is a sensible next step.

Naturopath, Nutritionist and Gut Health Expert
I helped launch the Naturopathic Nutrition Association and chaired it for seven years, ran the Natural Healthcare College as Principal for five years, and in June 2024 I was invited onto the Board of the General Naturopathic Council, the UK regulator for Naturopathy.
Behind those roles is a clinical practice that started in 2009 with a Diploma in Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy, and has been my full focus ever since. My particular interest is gut health, and the way digestion underpins energy, mood, hormones and skin.
What that means for you, in plain terms: you are working with someone who has helped shape the standards for the profession, and who applies them in every consultation. Personalised plans, plain English, no fads.

What clients in and around Fairford say
A small selection from the full reviews page. Real clients, real words, lightly excerpted.
Caroline is extremely thorough and she took great trouble to learn about my health history. She has really helped me following two painful visits to hospital with painful gut problems. As well as recommending long term strategies to support my gut health going forwards. Her advice on diet and supplements has been informed and successful.
I decided to find some professional help after the NHS had proved to be unable to help me at all, despite several consultations. At that time I was in a really bad way with diarrhea. She takes a holistic approach and gave me some great dietary advice. Now in February 2025 I would describe my health position as basically “fixed”.
When I met Caroline I felt really unwell with multiple symptoms. I had been to the doctors but I wished to pursue a more natural approach to my health first. Caroline took the time to listen to me, she asked lots of questions and was very understanding. She gave me such clear explanations that I was able to go away and implement her advice straight away.
My problems started a long time ago mainly due to work life sending stress direct to my gut. I’ve tried various people over twenty five years but I’m sorry to say they simply do not have the right expertise. I can now enjoy and digest a number of foods and yes, there is more to do but only with Caroline’s help.

Fairford nutritionist FAQs
If your question is not answered below, just ask on the discovery call.
Where is your clinic for Fairford clients?
The Cotswolds clinic is at Greatfield House, Top Road, Kempsford, GL7 4EG, just a few miles from Fairford. There is also a Swindon clinic at Wood Street Wellbeing, 10 Wood Street, SN1 4AB. Online consultations via Zoom are available for clients elsewhere in the UK.
Which areas around Fairford does your clinic cover?
The Kempsford clinic is conveniently located for clients across Fairford, Lechlade, Kempsford, Quenington, Coln St Aldwyns, Hatherop, Whelford and the surrounding Cotswolds villages. For anyone further afield, online consultations cover the rest of the UK.
Do you offer functional testing?
Yes, where it is clinically useful. We use comprehensive stool testing, SIBO breath testing, hormonal profiles, hair tissue mineral analysis and other targeted tests as appropriate. We will only recommend a test if it is likely to genuinely change the treatment plan.
What is iridology and why do you use it?
Iridology, alongside tongue and nail analysis, is a traditional naturopathic assessment tool. It is one extra source of information that, combined with a detailed case history and any functional tests, helps me build a fuller picture of your health. It is never used in isolation and never as a diagnosis.
What does the 5 Month Gut Restore programme actually involve?
Six consultations spread across five months. The first is a deep case history. The next sessions implement and refine your plan based on how your body responds, including any functional testing where it is clinically useful. The five-month timeline is deliberate: gut health responds to consistent change, not crash interventions.
How is your approach different from the NHS?
The NHS does an excellent job of acute care and ruling out serious disease. Where it has less time and capacity is for the slow, complex, multi-symptom cases that need a long case history and a personalised plan. That is exactly the gap a naturopathic nutritionist fills. We work alongside, not against, your GP.
Can I claim the cost back on private health insurance?
Westfield and Health Shield reimburse on certain corporate plans. Always check with your insurer first. We can provide invoices in the format your insurer needs.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. You can book directly. If you would like me to liaise with your GP at any point, I am happy to write to them with your consent.
