Why a nutritionist in Swindon

Local, expert support for your gut, your energy and your wellbeing

I am Caroline Peyton, a naturopath and registered nutritional therapist with my clinic at Wood Street Wellbeing in Old Town Swindon. The clinic is conveniently located for clients across Swindon, Royal Wootton Bassett, Highworth, Wroughton, Cricklade, Marlborough and the surrounding Wiltshire villages. I also see clients online from anywhere in the UK.

Most people who come to me have been around the houses already. They have seen the GP, perhaps had blood tests or a colonoscopy, and walked away with a label like IBS or “stress” and not much else. The symptoms keep going. The tiredness keeps going. They want answers, not another prescription.

That is what I do. I take a proper case history, I look for the root cause, and I build you a clear plan you can actually follow. Sometimes that includes specialist gut testing, sometimes it does not. Always it is personalised, sustainable and explained in plain English so you understand exactly why we are doing what we are doing.

If you are ready to stop guessing, the first step is a free 20-minute discovery call. No pressure, no obligation. We work out together whether nutritional therapy is the right next step for you.

My approach

The 4 Principles of Gut Health

Naturopaths have always said health starts in the gut. I go one step further. Health thrives in the gut. This is the framework I have built over 15 years in clinical practice.

The Myth
“You are what you eat.”
The Reality
“You are what you eat, digest and absorb.”
01

Support Your Digestion

Digestion starts before food even enters your mouth. It then goes on a complex journey through the mouth, stomach and small intestines. Food should not find its way into the large intestines undigested, but it can if your digestive capability is not working well. Many digestive problems and wider health symptoms start because of sub-optimal digestion and poor release of digestive secretions. I take care to explore each stage of digestion with you, and I have tools and techniques to support this essential function.

02

Nurture Your Gut

Your gut is home to trillions of microbes, bacteria, yeast and viruses, both beneficial and damaging. There are more microbes in your gut than people in the world, sending messages around your body and brain. It is a finely tuned ecosystem that easily becomes unbalanced. Stress, trauma, infections, medications, antibiotics and a sub-optimal diet all play a role. Once out of balance, things can spiral, creating IBS, SIBO and contributing to chronic IBD conditions.

03

Calm Your Busy Mind

Stress is the curse of the modern world but something we cannot always escape. It has an instant impact on your ability to digest food. It is only when you are in a relaxed state that the body can release digestive secretions properly and absorb nutrients. As a naturopath, helping you adjust your lifestyle and introduce stress-relieving protocols is an essential part of my work, not an optional extra.

04

Nourish Your Body & Microbiome

As a nutritionist, I will identify where your diet is lacking or imbalanced and tailor advice to your symptoms, lifestyle and budget. Of equal importance, I will show you how to nourish the ecosystem of gut flora itself. It needs essential fuel, the things called prebiotics, just like the rest of your body, to thrive and grow.

About Caroline Peyton

Naturopath, Nutritionist and Gut Health Expert

I qualified with a Diploma in Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy in 2009 and have been in clinical practice ever since. My particular passion is gut health and the microbiome, because, as naturopaths have said for decades, true health really does start in the gut.

I helped launch the Naturopathic Nutrition Association and chaired it for seven years, ran the Natural Healthcare College as Principal for five years, and in June 2024 I was invited onto the Board of the General Naturopathic Council, the UK regulator for Naturopathy. I have appeared on GB News and been quoted in the Daily Express, Woman & Home, Bella, The Lady and other national publications.

What that means for you, in plain terms: you are working with someone who takes the science seriously, takes your individual case seriously, and has the experience to know what to do when things are not straightforward.
