Local, expert support for your gut, your energy and your wellbeing
I am Caroline Peyton, a naturopath and registered nutritional therapist with my clinic at Wood Street Wellbeing, 10 Wood Street, Swindon, SN1 4AB, ten minutes from Royal Wootton Bassett. The clinic is conveniently located for clients across Royal Wootton Bassett, Lyneham, Brinkworth, Purton, Cricklade, Tockenham and the surrounding north Wiltshire villages. There is also a Cotswolds clinic at Greatfield House, Top Road, Kempsford, GL7 4EG, and online consultations cover anyone elsewhere in the UK.
Most of the people who reach me have been around the houses already. They have spoken to the GP, perhaps had blood tests or a scope, and walked away with a label like IBS or “stress” and not a great deal of practical help. The bloating keeps coming back. The energy still does not return. They want a real plan, not another prescription.
That is what I do. I take a thorough naturopathic case history, look for the underlying drivers, and build you a clear plan you can actually follow. Sometimes that includes specialist gut testing, sometimes it does not. Always it is personalised to you, sustainable in real life, and explained in plain English so you understand exactly why we are doing what we are doing.
If you are ready to stop guessing, the first step is a free 20-minute discovery call. No pressure, no obligation. We work out together whether nutritional therapy is the right next step for you.
Why an IBS label often does not help
An IBS diagnosis is, by definition, a diagnosis of exclusion. The serious things have been ruled out, no clear cause has been found, and the symptoms have a pattern that fits the IBS bucket. That is useful for a GP. It is rarely enough for the person living with it.
IBS is a label, not an explanation
Two clients with the exact same IBS diagnosis can have completely different underlying drivers. Microbiome imbalance, low stomach acid, food sensitivities, slow motility, post-infection changes, stress, perimenopause and bile flow issues all present as IBS-shaped symptoms. The label is the question, not the answer.
The drivers we look for first
A detailed naturopathic case history points us to where the issue most likely sits. We look at when symptoms started, what changed in the months before, the pattern across the day, the link with stress and the menstrual cycle, the response to specific foods, and previous antibiotic use. Most cases tell their own story once you ask the right questions.
When testing actually changes the plan
If the picture is not clear, comprehensive functional testing can sharpen it: stool testing for the microbiome and digestive markers, breath testing for SIBO, hormonal profiles for cycle-linked symptoms. We only run a test if the result will genuinely change what we do next. Tests follow the case, not the other way around.
The plan looks different for different people
Because the drivers differ, the plans differ. One client needs a microbiome rebuild. Another needs vagal tone work. Another needs hormonal support. Another needs to address food chemistry rather than food groups. There is no universal IBS protocol because there is no universal IBS.
Common concerns I support Royal Wootton Bassett clients with
If you recognise yourself in two or more of these, a discovery call is a sensible next step.

Naturopath, Nutritionist and Gut Health Expert
I helped launch the Naturopathic Nutrition Association and chaired it for seven years, ran the Natural Healthcare College as Principal for five years, and in June 2024 I was invited onto the Board of the General Naturopathic Council, the UK regulator for Naturopathy.
Behind those roles is a clinical practice that started in 2009 with a Diploma in Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy, and has been my full focus ever since. My particular interest is gut health, and the way digestion underpins energy, mood, hormones and skin.
What that means for you, in plain terms: you are working with someone who has helped shape the standards for the profession, and who applies them in every consultation. Personalised plans, plain English, no fads.

What clients in and around Royal Wootton Bassett say
A small selection from the full reviews page. Real clients, real words, lightly excerpted.
I experienced unexplained weight loss, very uncomfortable digestive symptoms and deteriorating energy which despite several blood tests my GP was unable to help with. I tried various elimination diets to no benefit and decided to seek a more holistic approach to my health. I was able to reintroduce foods, saw a steady increase in my weight and my energy with improvements to my digestive symptoms.
I am very pleased with the service I have received from Caroline. She is very professional and thorough which makes me feel confident about her recommendations. She has helped me to make positive changes to my diet and has shown me how to incorporate new food ideas for myself. I find Caroline’s advice easy to understand and I have definitely benefited from the consultations.
I was very pleased with the outcome of my consultation with Caroline. What I was especially impressed with was the fact that Caroline gave all her advice in one session, with one shorter follow-up session. Caroline quickly and accurately assessed my two major health concerns, and provided me with a new diet plan which was simple to follow and provided instant results.
I thought I understood what I needed to eat but just wasn’t eating it but she really helped me understand that it was much more complex than I realised and how nutrition was used in my body and why I was experiencing the symptoms I did. She gave me a feeling of empowerment over what and how to eat to feel more energetic and healthy.

Westfield and Health Shield reimburse on certain corporate plans. Always check with your insurer first. We can provide invoices in the format your insurer needs.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes, on the longer programmes. The 12 Week Health Support and 5 Month Gut Restore programmes can be split across the duration of the programme. We discuss this on the discovery call.
