Why a nutritionist for Lechlade

Local, expert support for your gut, your energy and your wellbeing

I am Caroline Peyton, a naturopath and registered nutritional therapist with my Cotswolds clinic at Greatfield House, Top Road, Kempsford, GL7 4EG, just a short drive from Lechlade. The clinic is conveniently located for clients across Lechlade, Fairford, Kempsford, Inglesham, Buscot, Eastleach, Filkins and the surrounding Cotswolds villages. There is also a Swindon clinic at Wood Street Wellbeing, 10 Wood Street, SN1 4AB, and online consultations cover anyone elsewhere in the UK.

The clients who reach me from Lechlade are usually people who have done the rounds. They have spoken to the GP, perhaps had blood tests or a scope, and walked away with a label and not much else. The bloating keeps coming back. The energy still does not return. They want a plan, not another prescription.

That is what I do. I take a thorough naturopathic case history, look for the underlying drivers, and build you a clear plan you can actually follow. Sometimes that includes specialist gut testing, sometimes it does not. Always it is personalised to you and explained in plain English so you understand exactly why we are doing what we are doing.

If you are ready to stop guessing, the first step is a free 20-minute discovery call. No pressure, no obligation. We work out together whether nutritional therapy is the right next step for you.

Educational deep-dive

Why a detailed case history is the first piece of the plan

If you have only ever had a 10-minute appointment, the idea of a 90-minute first consultation can feel like overkill. It is not. It is the foundation everything else is built on, and it is usually the difference between a generic plan and one that actually works for you.

The Myth
“Just tell me what to eat and what supplements to take.”
The Reality
There is no “what to eat” without “who you are”. Without the case history, any plan is a guess in expensive packaging.
01

Symptoms in context, not in isolation

Bloating that started after a course of antibiotics is a different conversation from bloating that started in perimenopause. Fatigue that follows a long-COVID infection is a different conversation from fatigue that has been there since childhood. The case history sets the context that turns symptoms into clues.

02

Pattern recognition over single data points

One symptom in isolation is rarely the whole picture. The combination of symptoms, the order they appeared in, what changed in the months before, the response to specific foods, and the link with stress and the menstrual cycle is what allows real pattern recognition. The pattern is the diagnosis.

03

What we cover in a first consultation

The presenting concern in detail. Medical and family history. Lifestyle, sleep, stress and movement. Diet and the relationship with food. Bowel and menstrual patterns. Past treatments, previous test results, current medication and supplements. Where appropriate, iridology, tongue and nail analysis. You leave with initial recommendations and a clear sense of what we will do next.

04

Why this matters for testing

A good case history dramatically reduces the amount of testing we need to do. Many cases are clear enough from the history that we can start the plan immediately. Where testing is useful, the history tells us exactly which test will be most informative. Tests follow the case, not the other way around.

Does this sound like you?

Lechlade clients usually come to me from one of these places

If two or more of these scenarios feel uncomfortably familiar, a discovery call is a sensible next step.

You have been told it is “just IBS”. The label has not made the bloating, the urgency or the unpredictability go away, and you are tired of structuring your week around your bowels.
You feel exhausted, but every blood test comes back normal. You know in your body that something is off, but no-one has been able to tell you what or why.
It started after antibiotics or a stomach bug. You were fine before. Now your digestion, your skin or your energy has never quite recovered.
The NHS has done what it can. Serious things have been ruled out. There is no clear next step from your GP. You want a more personalised approach.
Perimenopause has changed everything. The symptoms you used to manage are flaring. Sleep, mood, weight, digestion and skin all feel like moving targets.
You want a proper plan, not another prescription. You are open to functional testing where it is genuinely useful, and you would rather understand your body than mask the symptoms.

About Caroline Peyton

Naturopath, Nutritionist and Gut Health Expert

After a 20 year career in the corporate sector, I returned to study and graduated with a Diploma in Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy in 2009. I established Peyton Principles to provide personalised nutrition and lifestyle programmes that help people lead happier, healthier and more active lives.

Along the way I helped launch the Naturopathic Nutrition Association and chaired it for seven years, ran the Natural Healthcare College as Principal for five years, and in June 2024 I was invited onto the Board of the General Naturopathic Council, the UK regulator for Naturopathy.

What that means for you, in plain terms: you are working with someone who has done this for over 15 years, who takes the time to understand the whole picture, and who is held to professional standards that put your wellbeing first.

Real local clients

What clients in and around Lechlade say

A small selection from the full reviews page. Real clients, real words, lightly excerpted.

“It is not an exaggeration to say that seeing Caroline has transformed my life.”

I decided to find some professional help after the NHS had proved to be unable to help me at all, despite several consultations. At that time I was in a really bad way with diarrhea. She takes a holistic approach and gave me some great dietary advice. Now in February 2025 I would describe my health position as basically “fixed”.

Dave L, Lechlade
“Caroline has been very supportive and I would thoroughly recommend her.”

Caroline is extremely thorough and she took great trouble to learn about my health history. She has really helped me following two painful visits to hospital with painful gut problems. As well as recommending long term strategies to support my gut health going forwards. Her advice on diet and supplements has been informed and successful.

Brigid, Fairford
“Caroline’s extensive knowledge and expertise has changed my situation considerably.”

My problems started a long time ago mainly due to work life sending stress direct to my gut. I’ve tried various people over twenty five years but I’m sorry to say they simply do not have the right expertise. I can now enjoy and digest a number of foods and yes, there is more to do but only with Caroline’s help.

Ken, Gloucestershire
“I can’t believe the difference her suggestions have made. Amazing.”

When I met Caroline I felt really unwell with multiple symptoms. I had been to the doctors but I wished to pursue a more natural approach to my health first. Caroline took the time to listen to me, she asked lots of questions and was very understanding. She gave me such clear explanations that I was able to go away and implement her advice straight away.

Tania, Cirencester

Common questions

Lechlade nutritionist FAQs

If your question is not answered below, just ask on the discovery call.

Where is your clinic for Lechlade clients?

The Cotswolds clinic is at Greatfield House, Top Road, Kempsford, GL7 4EG, just a short drive from Lechlade and convenient for Fairford and the surrounding villages. There is also a Swindon clinic at Wood Street Wellbeing, 10 Wood Street, SN1 4AB. Online consultations via Zoom are available for clients elsewhere in the UK.

Do I have to come in person, or can I see you online?

Both work well. Many Lechlade clients choose in person for the first consultation so we can include iridology, tongue and nail analysis, and then run follow-ups by Zoom. If travel is awkward, the entire programme can run online from the start.

Which areas around Lechlade does your clinic cover?

The Kempsford clinic is conveniently located for clients across Lechlade, Fairford, Kempsford, Inglesham, Buscot, Eastleach, Filkins and the surrounding Cotswolds villages. For anyone further afield, online consultations cover the rest of the UK.

What does a typical first consultation look like?

The first consultation runs for around 90 minutes. We work through a detailed naturopathic case history covering your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, diet, sleep, stress and family history. Where appropriate we include iridology, tongue and nail analysis. You leave with initial recommendations and a clear sense of what we will do next.

How is your approach different from the NHS?

The NHS does an excellent job of acute care and ruling out serious disease. Where it has less time and capacity is for the slow, complex, multi-symptom cases that need a long case history and a personalised plan. That is exactly the gap a naturopathic nutritionist fills. We work alongside, not against, your GP.

Can I bring previous test results?

Yes, please do. Recent blood tests, scope reports, microbiome tests, food sensitivity panels or anything else relevant. The more context I have, the less likely it is that we run tests you do not need.

Will I get recipes?

You will get practical food guidance tailored to you, including suggested meals and snacks, and a “what a typical day might look like” structure. The point is sustainable changes you can build into a busy real life, not a 200-page recipe book that sits on the shelf.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes, on the longer programmes. The 12 Week Health Support and 5 Month Gut Restore programmes can be split across the duration of the programme. We discuss this on the discovery call.
