Local, expert support for your gut, your energy and your wellbeing
I am Caroline Peyton, a naturopath and registered nutritional therapist with my clinic at Wood Street Wellbeing, 10 Wood Street, Swindon, SN1 4AB, a comfortable drive up the A361 from Devizes. The clinic serves clients across Devizes, Potterne, Bishops Cannings, Rowde, Urchfont, Cheverell, Chirton and the surrounding Vale of Pewsey villages. There is also a Cotswolds clinic at Greatfield House, Top Road, Kempsford, GL7 4EG, and online consultations cover anyone elsewhere in the UK.
The clients who reach me from Devizes have usually done their homework. They have spoken to the GP, perhaps had blood tests or a scope, and walked away with a label and not much in the way of a real plan. They want answers, not another prescription.
That is what I do. I take a thorough naturopathic case history, look for the underlying drivers, and build you a clear plan you can actually follow. Sometimes that includes specialist gut testing, sometimes it does not. Always it is personalised to you and explained in plain English so you understand exactly why we are doing what we are doing.
If you are ready to stop guessing, the first step is a free 20-minute discovery call. No pressure, no obligation. We work out together whether nutritional therapy is the right next step for you.
Your microbiome, the most underrated organ in your body
Trillions of microbes live in your gut. They influence your digestion, your hormones, your mood, your immune system and your skin. We are still learning the full extent of their reach. What we already know is enough to take it seriously.
Diversity is the headline marker
The single biggest predictor of a healthy microbiome is diversity. The more different microbial species you support, the more resilient your gut, your immune system and your mood. The single biggest driver of diversity is plant variety. Aim for a wide range of vegetables, fruits, herbs, nuts, seeds, pulses and whole grains across the week.
What feeds the helpful species
Plant fibres, polyphenols, fermented foods, slow-cooked dishes and a generally varied diet feed the microbes you want to encourage. Ultra-processed food, alcohol, repeated antibiotics and chronic stress feed the wrong end of the ecosystem. The microbiome reflects the past few weeks of your life with surprising precision.
The gut-brain axis is real
The microbiome produces neurotransmitter precursors, short-chain fatty acids and signalling molecules that talk directly to the brain via the vagus nerve. Anxiety, low mood and brain fog can have gut-rooted contributions. Working on the gut without considering the brain, or the brain without considering the gut, often leaves clients stuck.
When testing the microbiome adds value
Comprehensive stool testing can give us a sharper picture: which species dominate, which are missing, signs of inflammation or intestinal permeability. We use it where the picture is unclear from the case history alone, and only when the result will change the plan. Tests follow the case, not the other way around.
Common concerns I support Devizes clients with
If you recognise yourself in two or more of these, a discovery call is a sensible next step.

Naturopath, Nutritionist and Gut Health Expert
After a 20 year career in the corporate sector, I returned to study and graduated with a Diploma in Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy in 2009. I established Peyton Principles to provide personalised nutrition and lifestyle programmes that help people lead happier, healthier and more active lives.
Along the way I helped launch the Naturopathic Nutrition Association and chaired it for seven years, ran the Natural Healthcare College as Principal for five years, and in June 2024 I was invited onto the Board of the General Naturopathic Council, the UK regulator for Naturopathy.
What that means for you, in plain terms: you are working with someone who has done this for over 15 years, who takes the time to understand the whole picture, and who is held to professional standards that put your wellbeing first.

What clients in and around Devizes say
A small selection from the full reviews page. Real clients, real words, lightly excerpted.
I experienced unexplained weight loss, very uncomfortable digestive symptoms and deteriorating energy which despite several blood tests my GP was unable to help with. I tried various elimination diets to no benefit and decided to seek a more holistic approach to my health. I was able to reintroduce foods, saw a steady increase in my weight and my energy with improvements to my digestive symptoms.
I am very pleased with the service I have received from Caroline. She is very professional and thorough which makes me feel confident about her recommendations. She has helped me to make positive changes to my diet and has shown me how to incorporate new food ideas for myself. I find Caroline’s advice easy to understand and I have definitely benefited from the consultations.
The words ‘gut health expert’ jumped out at me when I was searching online for someone who could help me with suspected leaky gut. With her immense knowledge and many years of experience Caroline literally walked with me on my journey back to health. She organised test kits within days, provided dietary programmes and recommended supplements to support my recovery.
I have had two consultations with Caroline since last November. I initially approached her for some advice regarding ongoing joint pains. I have found Caroline to be extremely professional throughout. She has taken the time to explain her recommendations to me and has provided clear advice that suits my lifestyle and budget.

There is also a Cotswolds clinic at Greatfield House, Top Road, Kempsford, GL7 4EG. Online consultations via Zoom are available for clients elsewhere in the UK.
Which areas around Devizes does your clinic cover?

What happens on the free 20-minute discovery call?
It is a relaxed conversation by Zoom or phone. You tell me what is going on, what you have already tried, and what you are hoping for. I explain how I work and which programme might fit. There is no pressure to book anything afterwards.
Will I be put on a long list of supplements?
No. Supplements are tools, not the plan. Where they are useful, I recommend a small, targeted set with a clear purpose and timeline. Diet, lifestyle and stress work always come first.
Do you offer functional testing?
Yes, where it is clinically useful. We use comprehensive stool testing, SIBO breath testing, hormonal profiles, hair tissue mineral analysis and other targeted tests as appropriate. We will only recommend a test if it is likely to genuinely change the treatment plan.
Can I claim the cost back on private health insurance?
Westfield and Health Shield reimburse on certain corporate plans. Always check with your insurer first. We can provide invoices in the format your insurer needs.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes, on the longer programmes. The 12 Week Health Support and 5 Month Gut Restore programmes can be split across the duration of the programme. We discuss this on the discovery call.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. You can book directly. If you would like me to liaise with your GP at any point, I am happy to write to them with your consent.
