Local, expert support for your gut, your energy and your wellbeing
I am Caroline Peyton, a naturopath and registered nutritional therapist with my clinic at Wood Street Wellbeing, 10 Wood Street, Swindon, SN1 4AB, a comfortable drive up the M4 from Chippenham. The clinic serves clients across Chippenham, Corsham, Lacock, Yatton Keynell, Castle Combe, Sutton Benger and the surrounding villages. There is also a Cotswolds clinic at Greatfield House, Top Road, Kempsford, GL7 4EG, and online consultations cover anyone elsewhere in the UK.
The clients who reach me from Chippenham are usually balancing a lot. Demanding work, family life, long days, and not much downtime in between. The bloating that flares with deadlines. The energy that crashes by mid-afternoon. The IBS label that has not really moved the needle. They want a real plan, not another prescription.
That is what I do. I take a thorough naturopathic case history, look for the underlying drivers, and build you a clear plan you can actually follow. Sometimes that includes specialist gut testing, sometimes it does not. Always it is personalised to you and explained in plain English so you understand exactly why we are doing what we are doing.
If you are ready to stop guessing, the first step is a free 20-minute discovery call. No pressure, no obligation. We work out together whether nutritional therapy is the right next step for you.
Stress, the nervous system, and the gut you have to live with
You can do everything else right and still feel like your gut is running your week, if the nervous system is permanently on high alert. Stress is the most common, most underrated, and most fixable driver of digestive symptoms. Here is what is actually happening, and what we do about it.
Two settings, one body
The autonomic nervous system has two settings: fight-or-flight and rest-and-digest. Digestion only really happens in the second setting. When the body is stuck in the first setting most of the day, digestion is low priority for the body, and symptoms follow.
The vagus nerve, the missing link
The vagus nerve carries the rest-and-digest signal from brain to gut. Vagal tone is what we are trying to restore in most clients. The good news: it responds quickly to small, repeated, deliberate practices. Slow exhales, gargling, humming, cold exposure, breath work before meals. Cheap, free, effective.
How chronic stress reshapes the gut
Stomach acid drops. Motility shifts. The microbiome changes within days. The gut lining loosens its tight junctions. Inflammation rises. None of this is in your head. It is your body responding rationally to a signal it cannot ignore.
The most useful intervention is rarely the most exciting
Sit down to eat. Slow down. Breathe before the first bite. Front-load food earlier in the day. Get outside in daylight. Sleep at the same time every night. Boring, perhaps. But these are the changes that move the most clients the most quickly. Tests come second, not first.
Chippenham clients usually come to me from one of these places
If two or more of these scenarios feel uncomfortably familiar, a discovery call is a sensible next step.

Naturopath, Nutritionist and Gut Health Expert
I qualified with a Diploma in Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy in 2009 and have been in clinical practice ever since. My particular passion is gut health and the microbiome, because, as naturopaths have said for decades, true health really does start in the gut.
Along the way I helped launch the Naturopathic Nutrition Association and chaired it for seven years, ran the Natural Healthcare College as Principal for five years, and in June 2024 I was invited onto the Board of the General Naturopathic Council, the UK regulator for Naturopathy.
What that means for you, in plain terms: you are working with someone who has done this for over 15 years, who lives and breathes gut health, and who is held to professional standards that put your wellbeing first.

What clients in and around Chippenham say
A small selection from the full reviews page. Real clients, real words, lightly excerpted.
I was very pleased with the outcome of my consultation with Caroline. Caroline quickly and accurately assessed my two major health concerns, and provided me with a new diet plan which was simple to follow and provided instant results.
I have always been a fit, active and healthy person, but after a nasty 100+ day virus with chest, sinus and ear complications, and three courses of antibiotics and other drugs, my digestive system was totally messed up and I was feeling awful. After completing a questionnaire and lengthy personal consultation an eating plan and supplements were suggested.
When I first signed as a Professional Boxer I needed to dramatically change my diet so that I could lose over a stone, in order to achieve my fighting weight, whilst at the same time maintaining high energy levels in order to support an intensive training regime. The dietary advice given was simple and very easy to follow and most important of all it was extremely effective.
Before I sought help from Caroline I was suffering from very painful and swollen knee and shoulder joints. Caroline went through my general health and suggested various changes in my diet with additional natural supplements added. I would recommend Caroline (Peyton Principles) to anyone, she is very professional and knowledgeable in her field.

Chippenham nutritionist FAQs
If your question is not answered below, just ask on the discovery call.
Where is your clinic for Chippenham clients?
The Swindon clinic is at Wood Street Wellbeing, 10 Wood Street, Swindon, SN1 4AB, in Old Town Swindon, a comfortable drive up the M4 from Chippenham. There is also a Cotswolds clinic at Greatfield House, Top Road, Kempsford, GL7 4EG. Online consultations via Zoom are available for clients elsewhere in the UK.
Which areas around Chippenham does your clinic cover?
The Swindon clinic is conveniently located for clients across Chippenham, Corsham, Lacock, Yatton Keynell, Castle Combe, Sutton Benger and the surrounding villages. For anyone further afield, online consultations cover the rest of the UK.
What happens on the free 20-minute discovery call?
It is a relaxed conversation by Zoom or phone. You tell me what is going on, what you have already tried, and what you are hoping for. I explain how I work and which programme might fit. There is no pressure to book anything afterwards.
Will I be put on a long list of supplements?
No. Supplements are tools, not the plan. Where they are useful, I recommend a small, targeted set with a clear purpose and timeline. Diet, lifestyle and stress work always come first.
Do you offer functional testing?
Yes, where it is clinically useful. We use comprehensive stool testing, SIBO breath testing, hormonal profiles, hair tissue mineral analysis and other targeted tests as appropriate. We will only recommend a test if it is likely to genuinely change the treatment plan.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes, on the longer programmes. The 12 Week Health Support and 5 Month Gut Restore programmes can be split across the duration of the programme. We discuss this on the discovery call.
How is your approach different from the NHS?
The NHS does an excellent job of acute care and ruling out serious disease. Where it has less time and capacity is for the slow, complex, multi-symptom cases that need a long case history and a personalised plan. That is exactly the gap a naturopathic nutritionist fills. We work alongside, not against, your GP.
Can I work with you if I am already on medication?
Yes. Naturopathic nutrition is designed to sit alongside your existing medical care, not replace it. I do not advise on medication and never ask a client to stop or alter prescriptions without their GP. Where supplements interact with medication, I check carefully before recommending.
