Fuelling Yourself to Enhance Your Performance
I’m writing this week’s newsletter after delivering a talk to a large group of Nationwide employees at their HQ in Swindon earlier today.
The organiser was really keen for me to share with the audience how nutrition, or as I like to explain it, “fuelling yourself”, can improve vitality, energy and overall health.
Like any large corporate organisation, and many smaller ones too, there has been recent company change that can be challenging. Showing employees how nutrition can also help build resilience is a benefit to both the individual and the company.
As one lady told me today:
“I’ve learnt more in the past hour than I’ve ever learnt before!”
And that is exactly why I am on a mission to speak to more organisations and support a productive, healthy workforce.
Why Nutrition Matters in the Workplace
It’s a passion of mine to not only share my knowledge, but to awaken people to the power of nutrition.
I also want to show employers how giving individuals just a few nutrition and dietary tools, ones that are easy to implement, can have a profound effect on performance and wellbeing.
It may sound too simplistic. It may seem far too challenging and difficult to “eat a perfect diet”. And eating well can appear confusing.
- Do you avoid red meat?
- Can you eat bread?
- Should you eat breakfast?
You try and “do the right thing”. You’ve started buying kefir and a turmeric shot, but is that enough?
Why are you still tired throughout the day and struggling to focus on the job?
When Healthy Living Feels Hard to Fit In
I understand that life is busy.
You may be holding down a full-time job. You may have caring responsibilities for children, grandchildren or elderly parents. And in the time you do have available, you may be trying to get to the gym because, after all, exercise and a workout are healthy too.
I understand this, because this was me.
Twenty years in a demanding corporate management job, working long hours and feeling stressed.
Then along came twin girls. A blessing, of course, but also a challenge.
I was trying to eat healthily, or so I thought. But when I commenced my nutritional therapy training, I started to understand how I could tweak my diet to make me feel better…
- To give me more energy.
- To help me cope with the demands of the job.
- And to help me perform better.
Simple Nutrition Tools Can Make a Real Difference
I teach the fundamental principles that can transform how you feel and how you experience your day at work, so it does not feel like such a struggle.
I share my 20 years of knowledge, including 16 years of clinical experience, and I position this alongside my previous 20-year corporate life.
That combination matters.
I understand both the science of nutrition and the reality of a busy working day.
I know that most people do not need complicated advice or unrealistic plans. They need simple, practical tools they can actually use.
- The right breakfast.
- Better blood sugar balance.
- Smarter snacks.
- More helpful hydration.
- Balanced meals that support energy, focus and resilience.
- Small changes that can make a big difference.
Supporting Healthier, More Productive Teams
I’ve been bringing these insights to companies for many years, including those in financial, technical, retail and education sectors.
There isn’t one type of company that is more suited to this work than another, because employees across all industries experience the same lifestyle struggles and challenges.
- Busy days.
- Stress.
- Low energy.
- Poor focus.
- Food confusion.
- Afternoon slumps.
And the feeling that they should be doing better, but they simply don’t know where to start.
It has never been a more important time to put nutrition on the workplace wellbeing map.
